I don't believe i own any anglo, but i now have a respectable number of silver oboles/deniers/gros/ double tournois/mailles/blancs from various medieval lots i slurped. Sadly only few are as beautiful as yours.

Here's some of my silber ancient greek/parthian oldies you asked me about. Since i'm not yet 100% confident about detecting real from fakes (tho i'm getting there, slowly but surely), pretty much all those are from pro sellers' auctions. But even then, i'm very happy about the prices i got them for.
I've more bronze greeks than silber now, but they are literally all over the place so i didn't take pics yet. I'm ashamed at how terrible of a collector i am kek.

For having worked there (Systeme U) during my univ years' internship, it doesn't surprise me. Now all their inventory is automated and priced by softwares, you get some absurdities happening when an item don't sale but have no sale time limit, at some point the software tries to ditch it at any price, a computer doesn't have any sense of value or seller's remorse after all kek.
Thing is we consoomers rarely enjoy it because the wagies glueing the pricetags are the first able to snipe those cheapies. A smart walmart seller in the jewelry section can probably get himself some nice extras by flipping online the unsold products after the computers are done with it.

You already have some nice pieces that are still on my want-list, and by the end of the year I'm sure you'll add many more great shines. A trident Byzantion hemidrachm was one of my earliest acquisitions, it's hard to avoid falling in love with Greek silver once you get to fondle a few.

Damn dude, 226 euros for an owl like that is a great price, normally the only way you can get them so cheap is if they're butchered with big deep chisel marks that ruin the appearance and appeal. Those Side tets are pretty common but that price is still good, and even common Italian Greek didrachms/staters that look nice are rarely found under $120. You're doing great my fren, keep it up!

Right? I always see owls in that condition in the 450-500 range usually, couldn't believe how cheap it ended up being. I guess the collection on sale that day was so large ppl following the sale ended up laser focusing on the few items they really wanted. All the coins started at 1 bux.

But if you like this, wait until you see what i scored earlier today! Just absurd. The 1888 one had a 25k mintage, 34k for the 1894. It will probably take a while to flip those, but i'm expecting to generate a very pretty petty.

I don't see anything overtly suspicious besides these 3 unusual bumps, but I've been scammed on what looked like a good patina encrusted Byzantine bronze which was actually a fake cast from pewter or a similar metal. I know that those common Philipp chalkons are a popular type for forgers, probably in part because people think "they'd never waste time faking $20-40 coins" and let their guard down. If you have other or better resolution pics I'd be interested to see what has raised red flags, and I'll try to find my fake Byzantine follis to show you

Tough choice, to stay /pmg/ relevant i'd say Golden Kamuy. It's a treasure hunt for a huge stack of gold nuggets between ex-soldiers of the russo-japanese war of 1905. I found the premium for silver coins of reasonable weight from findbullionprices was some 1.5toz Canadian coins .
I think it’ll be pretty comfy to have some bigger coin stacks.
I have a 5toz Aztec round but I don’t like the idea of stacking too many of those. And I have nearly $100 in junk silver.
I would like more dollar coins but there never seems to be reasonable cull prices. I guess every boomer thinks they’re highly collectible.

Oh I know why and where this all stems from. When I was in kindergarten, a kid a grade ahead of me stole my pokemon cards on the bus. I told my mom and he got in trouble. But he had a female cousin in third grade who was also on the bus who beat the shit out of me the following week. And not just punches, she hit me with a full bookbag and stabbed my knee and thigh w/ a pencil. I'm 32 and still have the marks.
As a result of that I was either extremely agitated or shy towards girls who showed any level of genuine interest in me through grade school. Looking back, in 8th grade there were 3 good looking girls who wanted to actually date me, but my reactions obviously drove them away. I didn't date at all until college and lost my virginity after at 24. I realized the effects it had on my life by myself just last year...
All and all though I have a great paying job, a good house and real, tangible wealth now. I don't think I'd trade any of that for the experience of young love. But it's just difficult to find a good, single woman these days :/

When Iran and israel had their little spat the other week, every time there was an attack from either side, the price of Gold/Silver spiked up while the price of bitcoin crashed downwards as much as 5k then within an hour or 2 both went back to their original prices before the attack.

One thing got proven last week, bitcoin is not a safe haven asset.

Alright anons, I got an update from my friend. He went back to Walmart and bought the 2 clearance jewelry items I thought were priced below melt with the 66% discount. He spent a total of $173 with tax and the melt value works out to over $256. Since refineries pay over 90% for karat gold scrap his purchase at 68% of melt was an instant win. More expensive than I'd prefer but still profitable. I never thought that PM arbitrage was possible at big box retailers, so if larger volumes are available it could have the potential of being a pretty solid side-hustle for someone, might be worth investigating if any of you live near a bunch of big retailers.

Then i'd monitor the price of gold and silver and wait for a good slurping opportunity (not now).
Can take months, so arm yourself with patience.

Once the price dip 15-18% i'd step in and make a big purchase at once.
With 60% of btc's cash I'd go for widely popular, low premium gubment minted coins, such as maples. 50/50 gold/silver.
The remaining 40% can be divided between even lower premium bars, constitutional and few numismatic stuff.

That's what i would have done if i was a newb with zero oz to my name but a functioning brain.
Now things are differents for me, so would be my approach.

I nooticed a great opportunity at the last minute and didn't have time to bid on it.
It's a pretty obscur coin and didn't draw any attention, so it ended up with nobody winning the auction.
But it wasn't automatically re-auctionned, so i messaged the seller asking him if he could put it back on sale as "buy it now" for the same price. Hope this wont appear as too needy (it will).

I did the same thing today. Saw an item I wanted as part of a lot of stuff I don't need. Messaged the seller with an offer for just the one item. Within 5 minutes she listed it for me and now it's on the way.

To be fair the font is too small for most boomer women to even notice let alone read, however I heard through the grapevine that IQDELET's mom booted him from her basement and liquidated his whole meager stack that cheap. see what I do is buy a few thousand coins at half price or lower. I then keep the coins I want, and sell the rest. Then I take the profits from the sales and buy more coins. Repeat over and over and over. For over a decade. And over that time I've amassed a collection worth hundreds of thousands of dollars using the proceeds from the coins I didn't want to keep.

Like your drug dealer getting his drugs for free, because you paid for them.

Yeah it's a decent deck. Some of the cards are torn but I don't want to upgrade. The cards belonged to a friend of the family, his great great grandparents collected it in the 1890's. So a bit of history to it that means more to me than the quality of the deck does.
But it was missing a couple cards and I'm OCD so I had to hunt them down

Those cards are splendid, i'm used to the conservative aesthetic of Victorian business trade cards etc. so their fresh style makes it hard for me to accept they're from the 1880s. What they did was put a coupon for one card in every pack of cigarettes they sold. You had to collect 53 different coupons by trading with friends to get all of them. Then you send the coupons in to the company and they sent out a pack of playing cards. The coupons were slightly larger than the cards.

so anyways there's tons of the coupons around, they sell for $5-$100 each.

the actual playing cards are a bit less common. They tend to sell in the $50-$300 range if you buy individual cards. Depends on condition.
The company that issued them were the same guys that invented baseball cards. The Honus Wagner card was American Tobacco, the company that owned Kinney Bro's. They did all sorts of collectible cigarette cards, but the baseball cards are the only really valuable ones.

I also wonder at the smoking habits of the people that ended up with a pack, the promotion only ran for a year or two. I suppose I smoke that many packs in a year, but barely. The odds of getting lung cancer were probably better than getting a deck of those cards!

So what happened is about 20 years ago I got into collecting tokens when I accidentally stumbled across a really rare one metal detecting.

So I started going on ebay and buying coins for my collection. One day I bought a coin that I wanted for $56. The very next day another one exactly like it came up for $22. So I bought that one too, planning on returning the more expensive one. But once I got them both I decided to just sell the extra one for $56. It sold the same day I listed it. I then took that $56 and bought several more cheapies to flip. Those also sold instantly at twice what I paid for them, so I just kept buying and flipping. Pretty soon I was buying hundreds of dollars per month, and then thousands. I found a few good sellers that listed their coins badly and after giving them advice on how to get more money for their coins and getting insulted for my efforts, I just started buying and flipping everything they sold for 2-3x. More recently covid came along and dead boomers flooded the market with extremely rare stuff. I slurped for 2 years straight, buying the dips and flipping the coins as fast as they came in. Sometimes selling them before I even got them in the mail.

I've bought and sold millions of dollars worth of tokens under multiple ebay accounts and via private sales. I'm one of the 20 largest dealers in the US and easily in the top 3 for my state. I am the single largest dealer of tokens from my town.
The fact that I rolled about $10k per year of my profits into my own collection isn't some shocking information. It's the whole reason I deal in coins. I'm good at it, it's fun, and I enjoy collecting the ultra-rare items. As to what my collection would sell for, that's just a guess based on what I paid for it. It could sell for less than I paid, but I don't ever pay full price for a coin so it could be a half million dollars or more for all I know. All built from one $22 purchase.

Liquidate stuff you don't need and get your hands on 1-2 years of runway for yourself. for every $1000 a month you need 10 troy ounce silver, just use that as a base model, if you're richer phenomenal *it will be* but aim for that.
So if you spend 2k a month you need 480 troy ounces of silver to give yourself 2 years of being ok.

The same coin. Bought and then sold for twice what I paid or more, over and over again. Year after year, I keep buying and selling the same coins to different people. If you buy a coin from my town I can almost guarantee I've owned it before, and probably owned it multiple times.
